Several new board members will be serving the Benzie community through Benzie Area Christian Neighbors.
On April 8, the board of directors and 65 members of the community elected board officers and new members for the coming year at an annual potluck dinner and meeting held to celebrate 30 continuous years of service to the Benzie and Manistee communities. Officers for the 2013 – 2014 year include Jerry Slater, president; Pastor Gene Houghton, vice president; Bill Dundon, treasurer; and Judy Welch, secretary.
Carolyn Waterson, the outgoing president, welcomed three newly appointed members, Nancy Meek, Lynn Bekkering and Pastor Barbara Fay while extending a thank you to The Rev. Skip Comer and Scott VerStrat for their many years of service. The Rev. Comer reflected by on the many changes BACN has experienced during his years of tenure — the acquisition and development of much expanded facilities and the decision to hire an executive director.
President Slater emphasized his “open door” policy, welcoming input from neighbors from every part of the community to help guide his efforts in the coming year. He also reviewed the six major work areas the board will be focused on in 2013 as outlined by strategic planning.
